Agenda for Thursday 5/24/07
An agenda for a special meeting of city council was posted at city hall today. The meeting is scheduled for 6PM on Thursday, May 24th at the Casner Room.
The special meeting has two agenda items.
First is "Discussion with action as appropriate regarding the employment of City Administrator, Florencio P. Sauceda" as requested by City Council.
Second is "Discussion with action as appropriate to update the City of Marfa signature cards at Marfa National Bank" as requested by the Mayor.
There is no executive session on the agenda. Everything will be done in public.
This is probably not a big surprise to anybody that has followed city activity recently. The last two years have been a dismal failure of administration and leadership from the former mayor and administrator. Sadly, the council seemed unable to direct the administrator effectively. They certainly tried many times.
Sauceda got three votes in favor of his renewed contract in February. All three of those council members are gone now. The two that voted against the contract remain on council. Rudy Garcia is returning to council. He was on council in February 2005 and was the only council member to vote against hiring Sauceda.
It is perfectly reasonable for the new council to consider if they have confidence in the administrator as we start a new city council term. In fact, that is their job as elected officials.

Thursday's date is 05/24/07 not 05/18/07 is this an error on the date?
Looks like the error is in the title of this thread. Agenda signature line is Dan's, not Flo.
Thanks for the correction. THe title is now correct.
